About Me

Hi, my name is Thu, the main author of Best Kept Dishes. I’m a native Californian living in Austin, Texas with my husband, son, and 2 dogs.

During the pandemic, I had an opportunity to spend time with my 3 moms (mom, mother-in-law, step-mother). Whenever they visited us, food always made our time together even better.

My 3 moms are 3 incredible cooks in their own way, and I wanted to learn everything they knew. But the Vietnamese way of cooking is usually “A little of this, a little of that”. Everything was always delicious, but without written instruction, it was impossible to replicate on my own.

So I am documenting these delicious dishes so we have something to look back to. These dishes are family recipes, as well as the ones I picked up from my travels and studied and perfected.

My goal is to help you make food that tastes so good that you can’t wait to share it with your family and friends. And I’m improving every day, so you won’t feel bad grabbing a second plate.

Some dishes are from scratch, most things are healthy, and all things are delicious.
